Remembering the Queen of Diamonds: Dame Elizabeth Taylor

We at Vanna K were very sad to learn about the passing of Elizabeth Taylor last week.

Elizabeth Taylor was not only a talented actress, but also a very beautiful Hollywood trendsetter. You will not find a photo of her where she isn’t wearing beautiful fashion and jewelry. She famously quoted, “Big girls need big diamonds”, and no one wore these big diamonds better than her. The most famous of these diamonds was of course the 33.19 Carat Asscher cut Krupp diamond, given to her by her fifth husband, Richard Burton. The diamond would be famously named the Taylor-Burton diamond. At the time of its purchase, it was the most expensive diamond in the world, priced at $1.1 million dollars. Elizabeth Taylor did in deed have her “big diamond”.

But Elizabeth not only loved big diamonds, she loved the intricacy of unique diamond jewelry and the way beautiful pieces could make a fashion statement. She was passionate about this her entire life, and did a lot for our industry.

As one of the last “classic” Hollywood icons, we will miss her elegance, her beauty and her flair for diamonds. We appreciate what she contributed to this world that we at Vanna K thrive in: a world where fashion and diamonds crossover into one beautiful masterpiece.

Rest in peace Dame Elizabeth. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
